Has the Flashpoint movie finally found it's director?

Warner Bros. Taps Spider-Man Homecoming Scribes To Helm Flashpoint

Now Variety has reported that WB has put Flashpoint, which was formally announced at SDCC a year ago, back on track with Vacation and Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein set to helm the film.

The film is titled Flashpoint and looks set to have a more comedic tone than some of the other stand-alone DC movies because of the duo's past.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are known for their work in the comedy category with movies such as Horrible Bosses and Vacation. Suicide Squad was a success despite scathing reviews, and last year's Justice League was panned while struggling to make even close to what Batman v Superman made - despite the wealth of superheroes it starred.

I'm not gonna break any big news here by telling you the DC Extended Universe hasn't had the best go of it so far. Flashpoint was put under covers after director Rick Famuyiwa stepped away from the project.

The solo Flash movie is based on the Flashpoint comic book series, released in 2011, and written by DC Comics chief creative officer and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns. Affleck hasn't provided Warner Bros. with an illustrious hit since 2012's Argo, but the studio appears to be eager to keep the actor on board. So far, Warner Brothers has yet to comment.

The studio was initially in talks with Ben Affleck to return to the director's chair for Flashpoint, but he passed on the offer.

The minds behind one of Marvel's most successful movies of 2017 are switching sides to helm an upcoming DC Comics film adventure.

We do know that it will not be an origin story for the Flash however, and that it will again feature Ezra Miller in the role. Daley and Goldstein previously wrote the script for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which they were in the running to direct as well, before Jon Watts landed the gig.
