Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu meets CEO's of leading Indian companies

High-speed train between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem makes first test run

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that India's purchase of Israeli-made Spike anti-tank rockets was "back on track".

Among the CEOs present were Ashok Hinduja, Anand Mahindra, Adi Godrej, Ajay Piramal, Harsh Goenka and Chanda Kochhar, with whom Netanyahu cheerfully interacted before getting down to breakfast-cum-business. "Innovation does not happen by itself, it has to be encouraged".

It was the job of his government and the government of Modi to facilitate "your competitive advantages and the ability to innovate", he told the business leaders. Messrs. Netanyahu and Modi also launched an Israel-India Industrial research and development fund, called I4F, and created to promote technological collaboration between the two countries.

He assured that Indian Businessmen will be received in Israel with unbelievable warmth and tremendous respect.

"We are the two oldest cultures on earth. We are democracies. We share a love for freedom and a love for humanity". "We are your partner", he said. But over the last 25 years, ties between the two countries have warmed. Addressing the audience during the event, Fadnavis praised bollywood for the work it is doing and reiterated that India is looking forward to its partnership with Israel. "This is the beginning of a wonderful friendship where possibilities are boundless".

On the sidelines of the Netanyahu-Modi summit, the AJC delegation has engaged Indian officials and civil society partners in series of meetings. Israel has such agricultural centers around the world, but India - with more than 30 - hosts more than any other country.

Holtzberg bestowed a photo tribute to the Prime Minister and said a special blessing, thanking G-d for saving his life.

"The agriculture practices used in Israel are very impressive". Under these agreements, Israeli technology will be used to clean and purify the Ganges River, a vital water resource for more than one billion Indian people.

The leaders began their one day visit to the state with host Prime Minister Modi and his Israeli counterpart embarking on an eight-km-long roadshow on their arrival in Ahmedabad, amidst heavy security blanket and thousands lined up to greet both.

He will also lay a wreath at the memorial for the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Some 166 people were killed when terrorists assaulted several sites around Mumbai's Colaba neighborhood on November 26, 2008, leading to a four-day standoff. The plaque stands in the same place where Moshe's father Rabbi Gaviel Holtzberg was found dead.

"I see that you are developing and growing nicely", he said. Today, Jews are an integral part of Indian society and the Jewish community numbers close to 7,000 while Israel is home to 85,000 Jews of Indian origin. "The hatred that was perpetrated by the terrorists, but it also expressed tremendous love. India has the vision and leadership under Modi", said Netanyahu. Now, the reports are coming that the Israeli PM and his wife are not visiting Mumbai and there, they are going to stay for a while.

The growing ties have yet to produce Indian support where Israel wants it most - at the United Nations and other global fora. While the original book is in Israel, it will be brought back to Chabad House when the memorial opens.

While in Gujarat, Netanyahu together with Modi visited Sabarmati Ashram where Mahatma Gandhi lived for 12 years. "So just to be on the safe side we have restricted Farah Khan's movement".

The trip to Mumbai was Moshe's first since the attacks.

"This is the spot where they were killed, and where Moshe was able to escape from", he said, pointing to the floor.

The Chabad House held a special event to mark the visit. "It is important that he is at the place where he was born, completing a cycle of life", Rosenberg added.
