Trump to meet Netanyahu, other world leaders in Davos

Trump will close the annual conference with a speech on FridayMore

Global auditing firm KPMG has highlighted geopolitical risk as the main issue occupying the minds of attendees at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

The findings by PwC, which will be published at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, show that the number of United Kingdom business leaders who would describe themselves as "very confident" has fallen 17pc on a year ago.

The theme for the World Economic Forum in Davos is "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World".

Trump will be the first USA president to attend Davos in 20 years, giving him a chance to mingle with the same elite "globalists" that he bashed in his 2016 presidential run.

Thomas added that last year's speech by Chinese President's Xi showed how influential Davos can be in shaping people's thinking.

The charge will be led by French President Emmanuel Macron, the new star of European politics, who in an audacious move, has invited numerous business leaders who will be in Davos to the Palace of Versailles on Monday to press them to invest in France.

Uncertainty over President Trump's trip to the elite Swiss Alps gathering - attended by royals, government heads and celebrities - has been rife.

White House Doctor Says Trump Is In 'Excellent' Physical, Cognitive Health
Jackson accused doctors who have tried to diagnose Trump from afar of performing "tabloid psychiatry". Trump took office at age 70, making him the oldest incoming USA president.

This followed a meeting between Ramaphosa, President Jacob Zuma, Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown, and Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, who is also the lead minister for the South African delegation in Davos.

"We have 45 heads of state and government here, and it is an opportunity for South Africa to set out its stall and to see where are the growth opportunities and how we attract investment".

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, back in Davos after a 20-year absence, is also due to speak.

This year, global leaders, including the French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Zimbabwe President Mauricio Macri Emmerson Mnangagwa and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to be in attendance.

One who missed their speech because of the snow was academic Linda P. Fried, who "bristled" at the suggestion that a summit that was to devote a large part of its time to discussing global warming was being severely affected by snow, telling the NYT that "It isn't accurate, people just don't understand, that's not the metric".
