Hamilton's final was another reminder that now these two teams set the standard in Sevens.

South Africa did enough to beat Australia in their semifinal and book a place against Fiji in the Cup Final.

New Zealand are second on 69, while Fiji have moved up to third place on 62.

Australia's Lachie Anderson completed the line-up.

New Zealand Sevens Tournament general manager Steve Dunbar said hosting a world series in New Zealand could not be taken for granted.

It was a solid day for Clark Laidlaw's troops.

South Africa won in Dubai‚ New Zealand in Cape Town and Australia in Sydney. "I can't wait for our 2019 Sevens tournament, and I think a lot of the people here this weekend will be back next year. There were tight margins across the weekend and unfortunately we were on the wrong side in that last game", he said.

Caught on the fly: Australia's Charlie Taylor is rounded up in the bronze-medal match against New Zealand at Waikato Stadium.

"But we have got stronger".

FIJIAN rugby trademark off-loads hit worldwide limelight again yesterday when Fiji Airways Fiji 7s reps, Kalione Nasoko and Alosio Naduva combined twice to score the winning tries for Fiji in the Cup final of the Hamilton 7s in New Zealand last night.

Player of the Final was Fijian flyer Alasio Sovita Naduva who scored three of Fiji's tries in the four tries to three-try victory.

Prop forwards Curtis Lilako, Brian Nyikuli, Oliver Mang'eni and Peter Karina scored a converted try each to extend the bankers' unbeaten run to eight matches (39 points).

The match against France was a glimpse of the potential of the side, with winger Nadine Roos and outside back Veroeshka Grain scoring a brace in a satisfying 29-14 win.

The team finished sixth after loosing to Samoa 19-15 for the fifth place.

Samoa, who are coached by New Zealand sevens legend Sir Gordon Tietjens, led 10-7 with time up but were turned over and punished as Nasoko gleefully dashed 60 metres down the right flank to break Samoan hearts.

Samoa pushed Fiji all the way in Sunday's first quarter-final.
