Nassar gets 40 to 125 more years in final sentence

A judge on Monday ordered Nassar's third and final sentence: 40 to 125 years in prison. The school's president and athletic director have already resigned. However, faculty members are planning a no-confidence vote against the board because of its appointment of Engler.

While the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not responded to allegations of neglect directly, they have issued a public statement.

Its longtime president, Lou Anna Simon, resigned last month, and the board of trustees voted unanimously to name John Engler, the former governor of MI, as its interim president.

The judge said she had heard statements from women in "gymnastics, soccer, figure skating, rowing, softball, cheerleading, wrestling, diving, dancers, track and field and others who were not in a sport but had suffered back, knee or other injuries", and that Nassar manipulated both victims and their families into trusting him. Here is what he had to say, according to USA Today. Raisman also made it clear to Nassar that while his abuse affected her deeply, it did not deter her from her love of gymnastics. And if you fancy, cross stitch, there's even a downloadable pattern with the words, "Do Your Magnificent Things".

Judge Janice Cunningham sentenced Nassar to a minimum of 40 years and a maximum of 125 years for his crimes in Eaton County. He did not visibly react to the sentence on Monday.

MSU, the gymnastics governing organisation and the US Olympic Committee have all come under scrutiny and are facing various investigations.

Nassar had pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal sexual conduct in Eaton County.

Although the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics, Michigan State University, and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation face lingering questions about whether they could have done more to stop Nassar.

Judge Cunningham said Nassar's conduct "spans the country and the world".

"I never got a phone call from the police or the FBI", Gina Nichols, the mother of one of Nassar's victims told the Times.

Disgraced former sports doctor Larry Nassar will not see the outside of a prison for the rest of his life.

The university maintains that no official there believed Nassar committed sexual abuse until newspapers began reporting on the allegations in the summer of 2016.

But more than 260 women and girls say Nassar sexually abused them under the guise of medical treatment.

This newest conviction specifically addresses the sexually-perverted acts he committed while working at Twistars USA Gymnastics Club in Lansing, Michigan. Sentences in those cases will run concurrently. After serving that sentence, he'll spend 40 to 175 years in prison for his crimes in Ingham and Eaton County.

Assistant Attorney General Angela Povilaitis said people must stop blaming the victims and their parents, who've been attacked online, on the radio and elsewhere.
