Militants attack Army camp in Jammu, two injured

Commenting on the terror attack that took place at Sunjwan Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu IGP SD Singh Jamwal said that the attack took place at around 4:55 AM. Speaking about the number of terrorists in the area, the investigating officer said, "Number of terrorists isn't known, they've been cornered in one of the family quarters".

In the wake of the terrorist attack in Sunjwan, the district administration has asked schools within 500 meters of the Army camp to remain closed until further orders.

Preliminary reports suggest two to three militants were involved in the attack.

Police in Indian Kashmir say a group of militants have opened fire inside an army camp in the disputed region. The camp, strategically located on Srinagar-Jammu-Pathankot highway, is surrounded by dense population. Gunshots were heard on Saturday morning inside Sunjwan Army camp.

According to ANI, one jawan and his daughter were injured in the firing. The intelligence stated that an attack is likely on the death anniversary of Afzal Guru.

The area has been cordoned off and operations are underway to flush out the terrorists present in the camp. A soldier and his daughter are believed to have been injured in the attack.
