Yun Sungbin left no doubt. The gold medal game is on February 22. He's been dominant for so many years.

South Korea's Yun Sung-bin won a gold medal in men's skeleton, becoming the first man outside Europe and North America to win an Olympic medal in a sliding event.

The 23-year-old South Korean maintained his lead with a combined time of 2 minutes, 30.53 seconds after finishing his third heat Friday at Olympic Sliding Centre in Pyeongchang, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul. He is the reigning World Cup overall champion, is now the Olympic champion and his career is only just starting.

"We will have to prepare for that and see how it goes", South Korean coach Jim Paek said.

Dom Parsons captured the bronze medal in the skeleton, giving Great Britain its first medal of the 2018 Games.

He is now 1.02 seconds faster than two-time Olympic silver medalist Martins Dukurs of Latvia.

For the USA, 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Matt Antoine was 11th and three-time Olympian John Daly was 16th.

It has been a hugely successful Games so far in South Korea, with many strong performances from leading contenders.

Yun set course records with each of his first two runs and already boasted an advantage of 0.74s by that stage. Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel won silver at Yongpyong Alpine Center while Federica Brignone of Italy got bronze.

Typically the likes of the United States, Austria, Canada, Germany and Switzerland have dominated the sport but Yun upset the established order with his breath-taking speed.

Kendall Coyne scored for the Americans.

Canada's Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford earned bronze. Vaultier barely qualified for the final after crashing during the semifinals but recovered to win his second Olympic gold medal. Americans Nick Baumgartner and Mick Dierdorff made the final but finished well back of the leaders.

Sweden took away the silver medal, two seconds behind Norway.

As expected, Norway have continued to collect medals in multiple events, and Aksel Lund Svindal added to the haul in the men's downhill skiing on Thursday.
