Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away at age 54 due to cardiac arrest

Bollywood actress Sridevi has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday night.

The 54-year old actress was in Dubai to attend a wedding ceremony in UAE with family.

According to Indian media, Sridevi brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed her death. Where her eldest daughter Janhvi is at home.

The actor born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayappan in 1963 in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu, is survived by her husband and two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi.

Regarded as the first female superstar of Bollywood, Sridevi worked across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Sridevi made her debut as a child artist in Thunaivan, at the mere age of four.

Her moving performance in Sadma alongside Kamal Hassan is still considered to be incomparable to any of her other works in Bollywood. In 1978 she came on the screen as the leading lady in Solwan Sawan against Amol Palekar. She began working in films as a child.

Sridevi is known for beauty all over the country with her talent. The two of them married in 1996 and Sridevi took a break from films. Her most recent outing was a year ago in "Mom", produced by her husband's banner.

The shocking news of her sudden death has prompted a outpouring on Twitter from her friends and fans. Although her last appearance onscreen was a Hindi movie titled Mom released in 2017, it was the bilingual Gauri Shinde directed hit #English Vinglish (2013) where Sridevi shone in what perhaps can be touted as her Swansong of Hindi cinema.
