Marvel's Luke Cage season 2 release date and teaser trailer

Marvel's Luke Cage season 2 teaser: Netflix is jumping aboard the Black Panther juggernaut

Netflix announced that Luke Cage, one of its collaborations with Marvel Television, will return for its second season on the streaming service June 22. The video itself doesn't reveal much about the story, but it's evident from the description that the stakes have changed. But when a new enemy emerges with powers beyond anything he's faced before, Luke is forced to determine how far he'll take his vigilantism, toying with the murky boundary that lies between being a hero and a villain. Can't break him. Season Two of Marvel's #LukeCage premieres June 22 on Netflix. The question is whether or not Netflix can maintain those strengths while expanding beyond familiar territory. Since early 2015 Netflix and Marvel have been creating standalone seasons for each of the heroes mentioned, as well as a 8-episode run of The Defenders seeing all four team up to protect New York City. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on almost any internet-connected screen. Now, the companies chose to treat eager fans with our very first trailer for Luke Cage season 2. You can watch the premiere-date trailer for Luke Cage below, thanks to an early morning upload from Netflix. For example, as noted by Den of Geek, The Defenders finale alluded to the idea that Mercedes "Misty" Knight (Simone Missick) would turn to Iron Fist (Finn Jones) after having her arm severed.

"Yo, I'm Luke Cage", says series star Mike Colter in the new teaser. We'll just have to wait and see.

Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce) and Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood) were added for Season 2, whose first episode was directed by actress Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels).
