Serena Williams ousted from WTA Indian Wells tennis by sister Venus Williams

Venus Williams and Serena Williams talk as they play during a match

Venus did her part to set up the marquee match when she dismantled world No. 35 Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-4 in just 79 minutes.

Serena and Venus Williams have been battling it out on the WTA Tour for 20 years, and they meet yet again on Monday in the third round at Indian Wells.

Last week, Serena made her comeback in professional tennis with Indian Wells tournament that is being held in California, US. "I just want to do the best that I can".

Venus falls behind love-30 on her serve and very quickly it's Serena with a half-chance for an early break.

Talking about competing in the upcoming Grand Slams tournament, Serena was quoted as saying, "If I want to play in those grand slams and play well then now is the flawless time to start". It is the earliest they have faced each other since their first encounter at the Australian Open in 1998.

She will play Daria Kasatkina of Russian Federation after she outplayed Sloane Stephens (15) 6-4, 6-3.

"I always know that it's never over until it's over", she said. Venus enjoyed a resurgent 2017 season, but she began this year with losses to Angelique Kerber in Syndey and Belinda Bencic at the Australian Open. As she heads to Miami, she'll leave with a couple wins under her belt, having beaten Zarina Diyas in the first round and Kiki Bertens in the second round, both in competitive straight set matches.

"I still have a lot to give".

With Serena Williams coming back last week after 14 months away, she, and everyone watching, were taking it one match at a time.

The number eight seed will go on to face Latvian Anastasija Sevastova who beat Julia Goerges in straight sets 6-3 6-3. She's looked good - not quite as fast or powerful as she was pre-pregnancy, but she's generally getting stronger as matches progress, and that's hugely important. "She kept roaring back, I'm just lucky that I've played more matches than her right now".
