Russian exile who was ally of Putin critic found dead in London

Anti-Putin oligarch found strangled in his London home

Andrei Borovkov told Russian media outlets on Tuesday that his client, Nikolai Glushkov, was found dead inside his south London home and that he was unaware of the time and circumstances.

This news comes after Russian journalist Damian Kudryavtsev posted a tribute to Mr Glushkov on his personal Facebook account.

A Russian political exile who once warned that he was on the personal hitlist of Vladimir Putin has died in London.

Police confirmed that "a man in his 60s" was found dead but did not name Glushkov directly.

In the 1990s, Glushkov served as deputy managing director at Russia's flag carrier Aeroflot and worked for Berezovsky's LogoVAZ vehicle company. He was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

He gave evidence in a case in 2011 brought by Mr Beresovsky against Roman Abramovich, who he claimed had cheated him out of £3.2bn.

Glushkov was deeply unhappy with the judgment and launched a formal appeal, citing "bias".

An inquest into Mr Berezovsky's death recorded an open verdict. Police believe he committed suicide.

In an interview with The Guardian newspaper not long after Berezovsky's death, Glushkov said he believed he was also a target.

"I'm definite Boris was killed". I have quite different information from what is being published in the media.

Glushkov was a Russian businessman who worked closely with Berezovsky in 1990s.

"Boris was strangled. Either he did it himself or with the help of someone". In 2013 Glushkov emailed a friend: "I have a lot of new facts that are of great interest".

He was thought to have been single, he had two grown-up children, Natasha - believed to live in the United Kingdom - and Dima, and an ex-wife in Moscow. Last year, a Moscow court tried him in absentia for embezzlement from Aeroflot, the Russian court-reporting agency RAPSI reported.

It is not yet known how he died but his death has not been linked to the Salisbury poisoning case, the Metropolitan police said.

They were found in Salisbury, around two and a half hours from London. She is reviewing a range of economic and diplomatic measures in retaliation for the assault with what she identified as the military-grade nerve agent Novichok.

May gave Russian Federation until the end of Tuesday to respond to her allegations.

"He sometimes came in our shop many years ago, by the triangle, but I don't remember what he looked like".

Tillerson told reporters late Monday that Russia's actions would "certainly trigger a response".

According to Tass, he received political asylum in the United Kingdom in 2010.

"It is extremely worrying that chemical agents are still being used to harm people".
