He said the Government is working comprehensively towards this goal. The poor were affected by it and every step taken by authorities is connected with the common man of the country. He said State Governments have a key role to play in this regard, and he has personally written to all Chief Ministers to join in this campaign.

The new NSP adopts a multi-pronged approach which aims to detect all TB patients with an emphasis on reaching TB patients seeking care from private providers and undiagnosed TB in high-risk populations, treat all patients irrespective of where they seek care adopting a patient-centric approach, prevent emergence of TB in susceptible population groups and build empowered institutions and human resources to streamline implementation, Nadda said.

Prime Minister quoted several government schemes and programmes that have left their imprint over the last 3 and a half years like Ujjwala mission, National Nutrition Mission, the Ayushman Bharat Mission and the National Immunisation Mission.

Tuberculosis is a highly infectious disease that kills 4.80 lakh people every year in the country.

"In India, TB has the maximum impact among communicable diseases".

Leaders from across the globe have converged in the national capital for the summit, hosted by the Union Ministry of Health along with the WHO and the Stop TB Partnership.
