Russia Will Expel British Diplomats In Poisoning Standoff

Presidential opposition candidate and former TV star Ksenia Sobchak right and Dmitry Gudkov a former lawmaker and Kremlin critic attend a big rall

While Britain has accused the Russian state of ordering the poisoning of the Skripals, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson took it a step further Friday and said it's "overwhelmingly likely" that Putin himself ordered the attack.

"Any reference or mention of our president in this regard is a shocking and unforgivable breach of diplomatic rules of decent behaviour", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to the agency.

Peskov emphasized that "we have repeatedly said that Russian Federation has no relation to that".

Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday that the Russian state was culpable for the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal, a former double agent who betrayed dozens of spies of Britain's MI6 foreign intelligence service, and his daughter. Using a military-grade nerve agent in the Salisbury incident "further demonstrates the reckless and irresponsible conduct of its [Russia's] government", the USA said. "We will, of course", he reportedly said.

Russian Federation denies being the source of the nerve agent, suggesting it could have been another country, and has demanded Britain share samples collected by investigators. In an attempt to decide how to proceed, London has joined the anti-Russian campaign of how to contain Russia, the Russian Ambassador to London believes.

Russia's envoy to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons told The AP that his country has no stocks of the Novichok group of nerve agents, insisting that Soviet-era research into the agents was totally dismantled before Russian Federation joined the organization.

"Russia should shut up and go away", Williamson said.

A United Kingdom inquiry found that two Russian agents poisoned Litvinenko at a London hotel bar in 2006 by spiking his tea with highly radioactive polonium-210, and that Putin "probably approved" Litvinenko's killing. He also cast doubt on the possibility that the nerve agent was sent through the mail or was placed in luggage that Skripal's daughter brought with her from Russian Federation to Britain.

Russian Federation has repeatedly dismissed the UK's accusations as "unfounded" and warned it would retaliate over the expulsion of its diplomats. "There is to be no Russophobia as a result of what is happening", Johnson told reporters at the Battle of Britain bunker from which World War Two fighter operations were controlled.

"Well he's a nice man, I'm told, maybe he wants to claim a place in history by making some bold statements", Lavrov said.

Corbyn added that Labour did not support Putin and that Russian Federation should be held to account if it was behind the attack.

The war of words between Moscow and London continued Friday, with Lavrov lashing back at British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson for saying Russian Federation "should go away and shut up".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has urged Mrs May not to "rush way ahead of the evidence" - highlighting the way worldwide crises such as the Iraq War had seen "clear thinking" overwhelmed by "emotion and hasty judgments".

In Friday's Guardian newspaper, Corbyn says it's possible that "Russian mafia-like groups", rather than the Russian state, were responsible. He was granted refuge in the UK after a high-profile spy exchange between the United States and Russian Federation in 2010.
