Instagram lets users share other people's pictures with new 'Regram'-like button

Instagram is testing a feature where you can quote posts in your Stories, just like quoting tweets

BigCommerce, the leading ecommerce platform for established and fast-growth brands, has expanded its collaboration with Instagram to make shopping on Instagram available to merchants beyond the United States to also include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The feature allows businesses to leverage their posts on Instagram and convert them into sales, instead of just likes.

Jordan Sim, Group Product Manager at BigCommerce said: "Up to this point, social media platforms have predominantly been used by brands to generate awareness with current and prospective customers". Before the introduction of the Shopping feature, companies had to resort to using third-party tools like Like2Buy and LikeToKnowIt to direct customers to their commerce portals.

It's now being tested with a small number of users, according to TechCrunch, which reports that the feature is only available to use on Instagram updates that are both public and permanent. Following this, users have an option to crop, highlight, or change the design of the post.

A spokesman said: "We're always testing ways to make it easier to share any moment with friends on Instagram".

The feature will also let businesses add a "Shop" tab to their profiles and collect data on how many people are tapping to see or buy their products via Instagram. We want to be that seamless experience.

Shopify merchants looking to get started with "shopping on Instagram" need to be located in the aforementioned countries, have a Facebook channel installed in their Shopify store with an approved Facebook Shop, and have an Instagram Business account that can be set up after connecting to a Facebook Page.

Instagram has been steadily trying to promote its business potential to attract more clients and consumers willing to use its platform to sell products and help monetise the platform.
