Deep State: Officials Leak Dissent After President Donald Trump Congratulates Putin

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says it is sickening to think of President Vladimir Putin "glorifying" in Russian Federation hosting the World Cup. Trump did discuss the attack against Sergei Skripal Wednesday in a call with French President Emmanuel Macron. Trump should not have called Putin. According to accounts from the White House and the Kremlin, Trump did not do that either.

"We don't get to dictate how other countries operate", she told reporters in a briefing.

'I don't believe that was discussed in today's call, ' White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.

Several members of Congress have criticized Trump's offer of congratulations to Putin.

"Getting along with Russian Federation (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing", Trump said, adding that Russian Federation can "help solve problems" from North Korea to "the coming Arms Race".

Senator John McCain had strong words on the president's phone call to Putin, saying in a statement, "the American president does not lead the free world by congratulating dictators on sham elections".

The leak was said to have infuriated the U.S. president and triggered a search for the culprit, given only a limited number of people have access to the talking points.

But the two leaders did not discuss Russia's interference in the 2016 United States election or the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, the former double agent targeted with a nerve agent in the UK. Russian Federation has denied the accusation.

On Sunday, Putin secured a landslide victory in a presidential election that saw him return to the Kremlin with a record vote share of 76.66 percent. This isn't a time for "congratulations" - it's a time for coordinated action to deal with the threat Putin poses.

Nor did they discuss the questions that have been raised over the weekend poll in Russian Federation.

Very few officials would have known about the details of the call, only those at the very highest levels of the administration and the president himself. "2016-2018: Putin complicit in Assad's genocide".

"The sides agreed to develop further bilateral contacts, including in the context of reshuffles in the US State Department".

"I had a call with President Putin and congratulated him on the victory, his electoral victory". Two people familiar with the notecards acknowledged that they included instructions not to congratulate Putin.

The White House had said Monday that it was "not surprised by the outcome" of Sunday's presidential election in Russian Federation and that no congratulatory call was planned.

The White House National Security Council declined to comment on the report.

Last month, special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian individuals and three organizations on charges of interfering in the election.
