'Your are beyond the Crown Prince,' Trump praises wealthy Mohammad Bin Salman

President Donald Trump and the Crown Prince of Saudia Arabia Mohammad bin Salman met Tuesday.

"Saudi Arabia is a very wealthy nation, and they're going to give the United States some of that wealth, hopefully, in the form of jobs, in the form of the purchase of the finest military equipment anywhere in the world", Trump told reporters.

Speaking in English, Prince Mohammed pointed out significant Saudi investments in the US.

"He (bin Salman) could not use such amateurish lies to hide the role of Saudi Arabia's government and leaders in creating the most risky terrorist groups in modern history and in major terrorist incidents like the September 11 (attacks)", Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said, according to Iran's Tasnim News Agency.

"Saudi Arabia is an indispensable partner in the region, without which the United States would be less successful", Lee said. A lot of bad things are happening in Iran.

Trump traveled to Saudi Arabia in May on his first overseas trip as president, and boasted that he had come away with billions of dollars in business deals.

In response, the Saudi crown prince said: "We believe the same".

"Your significant amounts of humanitarian aid is critical to help the innocent caught up in this conflict (and) we applaud you for that", he told the crown prince.

"Iran has not been treating that part of the world, or the world itself, appropriately", Trump said.

"We'll see what happens", Trump said.

In the Oval Office, Trump and the crown prince praised the strength of U.S. -Saudi ties, which had grown strained under the Obama administration in part over differing views toward Riyadh's regional rival, Iran.

Trump has suggested he may break the agreement in May, prompting critics to say that any such move would spark a nuclear arms race in the region between the Saudis and the Iranians, who have threatened to disown the 2015 accord if the USA walks away. Trump's red-carpet treatment highlighted his administration's strong backing of the crown prince whose foreign policy has caused unease among some Western allies.

The son of King Salman and heir to the throne will also hold separate meetings with a long roster of influential US officials, including the secretaries of defense, treasury and commerce, the Central Intelligence Agency chief and congressional leaders from both parties.

According to the Post, Trump wants billions worth of job-creating Saudi investment in the US. "There's nobody that even comes close to us in terms of technology and the quality of the equipment, and Saudi Arabia appreciates that".

Although the USA has welcomed MBS's determination to purge pervasive corruption in Saudi Arabia, including by royals, the Trump administration hasn't endorsed his tactics. He said a political settlement in Yemen would protect Saudi Arabia and deny safe haven to terrorists.
