But David Hogg, who is a survivor of the mass shooting that killed 17 people at his Parkland, Fla., high school in February, did not get into two of his top choices for college: the University of California at Los Angeles and at Santa Barbara.
Hogg urged advertisers to pull out of Ingraham's show after she mocked his rejection from several colleges that he had applied to. "(Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA.totally predictable given acceptance rates.)" she wrote on the social media site.
But a TripAdvisor spokesperson said Ms Ingraham's original comments "cross the line of decency". "On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the courageous victims of Parkland", she said, and invited Hogg to appear on her show.
In response to a post from the father of a girl who lost her life in the Parkland shooting, Hogg said he would accept the apology "only if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight". The brazen insincerity of Ingraham's apology - along with this abject demonstration that she was happy to completely contradict her supposedly tough, honest disagreements with the March for Our Lives organizers including Hogg - is indicative of what really goes on with Fox News personalities like Ingraham. He told followers, "If you want to help I would suggest contacting 3-4 of these companies", adding, "Let's do this".
Conservatives, though, are saying that they're going to boycott the companies that dropped their sponsorships of Ingraham's show.
Keeping up the pressure on Friday, David told the New York Daily News: "I would love to see her go". She offered a weak apology on Twitter, though not on her radio show or Fox News.
Ingraham took to Twitter to apologize.
Nutrish was the first to say it would stop advertising on Ingraham's program, and other brands followed. The former reality TV star would regularly call into Fox News shows to express his political opinions on the news topic of the day, despite not having any professional experience in politics. We appreciate our clients' feedback on this, and we can confirm we're no longer advertising on Laura's show.
The Ingraham Angle is one of the top-rated news/opinion shows on cable.
Laura Ingraham, the hard-right Fox News primetime host, has made headlines recently for insulting some of the country's most popular figures on the basis of their liberal politics.
