Kyrie Irving To Miss 4-5 Months With Knee Surgery

Kyrie Irving will not return in time to play in this year's playoffs

In the aftermath of left knee surgery, All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics will miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs, league sources told ESPN.

But this season, after experiencing discomfort, Irving underwent what the Celtics described as a "minimally invasive procedure" to remove the wire with the aim of relieving irritation in his patellar tendon.

The tension wire had been inserted in Irving's knee during a 2015 surgery to fix a broken kneecap.

"The fracture in Irving's patella has completely healed, and his knee remains structurally sound", the Celtics said in a statement.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the team has not released the news. Those screws will be removed in a separate procedure on Saturday to ensure no infection remains in his knee.

The procedure, to remove two screws implanted in the knee, will require 4-5 months of recovery. He'll be out for 4-5 months.

"This season was only a snapshot of what's to come from me", he said in his post. It's simply a test of your perseverance and Will, to be present, even in the wake of what's going on.

The NBA playoffs begin next week with Boston likely to hold the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference after losing to the No. 1 Toronto Raptors Wednesday night.

With Irving adding to the mounting injuries in the team, it is going to be tough for the Celtics to advance far in the NBA Playoffs. Trust Me. "The journey back to the top of Mt. Everest continues".

James, who wasn't happy that Irving forced his way out of Cleveland last summer, is on pace to play in all 82 games this season for the first time in his career.
