Tony Ferguson's Withdraws From UFC 223, Not An April Fool's Joke

Brock Lesnar and Conor McGregor will fight again in UFC, Dana White says

With no confirmation from the Irishman about a return to the UFC, White finally informed the face of MMA he will be stripped of his title, but McGregor quickly responded.

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor left a rival with facial injuries on Thursday after attacking a shuttle bus carrying fighters from an Ultimate Fighting Championship media event in NY, reports said.

'The only one that's losing a belt here is Conor.

Conor McGregor said no to a last-minute fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, according to the Russian. The company then announces that Aldo will be the unified champion, with Holloway fighting Anthony Pettis for an interim featherweight belt at UFC 206 in Toronto - again, this is all very confusing.

He said: "The only person here who is losing a belt is Conor".

White expressed his disappointment at the news but also confirmed that McGregor will be officially stripped of his belt.

But Max Holloway (19-3) stepped up on six days' notice for what might be a better bout on Saturday.

Nurmagomedov has revealed that McGregor chose to not defend his lightweight belt at UFC 223 on Saturday in Brooklyn. White said he did not expect McGregor to attend the fight.

"No interim champ. When this fight is over, champion", said White, gesturing to Nurmagomedov and Holloway. McGregor last fought at all in a boxing match he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26, 2017.

McGregor appears to be the obvious option should Nurmagomedov win after White expressed his concerns over booking another meeting with Ferguson.

Speaking to SportsCentre, White said: "I did see [the video]".

The 29-year-old reportedly turned up unannounced at the end of Thursday's press event to publicise the upcoming UFC 223 card. "Conor does want to come back, he does want to fight, so he will fight this year". McGregor is now the only fighter to accomplish the feat.

Video footage on social media shows the MMA fighter arriving at the event, following by him picking up a barrier, before throwing it in the direction of a door.
