2 soldiers killed after helicopter crash at Kentucky army base

The crew of those AH 64E Apache helicopter were running routine training workout routines once the crash occurred on Friday evening, according to an Army announcement posted to Fort Campbell's face book webpage.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Two soldiers were killed in the crash. There were no other casualties.

Officials at Fort Campbell confirmed an Apache helicopter crashed on Friday night.

'This is a day of sadness for Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne, ' Brigadier General Todd Royar said. Gen. Todd Royar. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Families during this hard time", he said.

At the time of the news release, it was said that Fort Campbell Fire and Emergency Services were still at the scene of the crash.

Also on Tuesday in Djibouti in East Africa a Marin Corps AV-8B Harrier crashed during takeoff.

On Tuesday, four marines died when their CH 53E Super Stallion helicopter crashed near El Centro area in Southern California.

And on April 4, an F-16 from the Air Force's Thunderbirds crashed near Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, killing the pilot.
