McGregor involved in backstage melee ahead of UFC 223

Conor McGregor

At the Brooklyn's Kings County Criminal Court he was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief relating to his attack on a UFC 223 fighter bus the previous day.

In a video posted by TMZ, McGregor is shown lifting a dolly and throwing it into one of the bus' windows.

McGregor can then be seen grabbing a railing and attempting unsuccessfully to throw it at the bus before locating a wheeled trolley and launching it at the vehicle. And, he would face 3 charges for assault on Friday.

"What the f-", Chiesa said.

"He is captured on video surveillance picking up a chair and throwing it at the window of a passenger bus", the prosecutor said.

The incident, which led to injuries and the cancellation of several fights, unfolded as the UFC held a press conference at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn. Walden said there was no risk McGregor would not return to court on June 14 to answer the charges. Other fighters took trash-talking moves from the McGregor playbook but only Kamaru Usman and the ongoing TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt feud piqued interest.

UFC President Dana White said McGregor would be stripped of his lightweight title, which would go to the victor of Saturday's bout.

McGregor's meltdown left UFC fighter Mike Chiesa with cuts to the face, and landed the famed Irish combatant in Brooklyn's 78th precinct.

This relates to an incident where he, along with a number of friends, stormed a UFC media day in NY and attacked a bus containing fellow fighters.

McGregor has been released on bail after being charged with three counts of assault and one of criminal mischief.

Bail for Cian Cowley, also involved in the alleged incident, was set at $25,000.

Conor McGregor's future with the company is in doubt.

#Conor Mcgregor hasn't fought in the UFC since his last title match in November 2016 against Edie Alvarez where he knocked him out in the second round.

White said he's been in touch via text message with McGregor, who told him he's sorry innocent people got hurt but isn't apologetic about addressing the beef.

The fracas appeared to be related to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's decision to strip McGregor of his title. "And we'll turn them around and get them fights again real quick".

Emboldened by his money from the Mayweather fight, he has become a law unto himself, but his latest misstep has tested the patience of UFC president Dana White, who has excused plenty of bad behaviour in the past.
