Rafale deal: Rahul Gandhi attacks PM, issues 'Modi Scam Alert!'

Supreme Court of India

The Congress president's remarks come just a day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav confirmed during an interview to a television channel that his party will ally with the Bahujan Samaj Party against the BJP for the 2019 General Elections.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed BJP president Amit Shah for his "disrespectful statement" equating Opposition parties with animals.

Apart from this, Congress party is also holding a rally at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on 29 April to protest against the current political situation in the country which it said has an "environment of distrust and intolerance" particularly with respect to Dalits.

Rahul attacked the PM Modi-led BJP government and alleged there was a breakdown in government due to the ruling party's mismanagement, demonetisation and implosion of the financial system.

"Calling the opposition parties animals exposes Shah's mentality and reflects the vision of the BJP and its parent organisation RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh)".

Mr Gandhi said Congress stood by the people of Bengaluru which stood for multi-diversified culture and a mini India on its own but the BJP tried to divide people within the city and across Karnataka.

He added, "Everybody else as far as they are concerned are animals".

That's fine, that is the way they look at the world. He said "the fact of the matter is between Mr Amit Shah and Mr Modi, they are convinced there are only two human beings in this country".

The basic thing is how to get the country out of the "mess that Modi and RSS has put it in", Rahul said. "They say it to us", Gandhi said.

"What is happening to Dalits across the country is disgusting and frightful and our prime minister has nothing to say".

"Modi knows that we'll tear him to shreds over the banking scams and corruption in his government", he told reporters at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). "The opposition is indulging in politics in the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar", said Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday.

The Congress has been demanding details of the deal, alleging that the deal negotiated under its rule was much cheaper than the contract signed by the Modi government.
