One Person Killed, 4 Injured in Trump Tower Blaze

People on the streets of New York stopped to capture the incredible scene at the president's Manhattan residence

A fire at Donald Trump's NY skyscraper has killed one man and left four firefighters injured.

President Donald Trump tweeted about the fire but didn't mention Todd Brassner, the 67-year-old resident who died.

The town's medical examiner's office will find out the reason for death and the analysis will be ongoing, police explained.

"It was a very hard fire, as you can imagine", Mr Nigro told reporters outside the building on 5th Avenue in midtown Manhattan. "As you can imagine, the apartment is quite large, we are 50 stories up", it added.

Mr Trump's son Eric tweeted that the fire had been at a "residential apartment" and thanked the "incredible" NYFD for their response.

"It was a very hard fire, as you can imagine", Nigro told reporters outside the building, in midtown Manhattan. "Firemen (and women) did a gret job".

Trump's family has an apartment on the top floors of the 58-story building, but the president has spent little time in NY since taking office.

The cause of the blaze is unknown, but there were no sprinklers in that unit or on the upper floors of Trump Tower.

2 soldiers die after helicopter crash at Fort Campbell
At the time of the news release, it was said that Fort Campbell Fire and Emergency Services were still at the scene of the crash. On Tuesday, four marines died when their CH 53E Super Stallion helicopter crashed near El Centro area in Southern California.

"The apartment was virtually entirely on fire".

Streets surrounding the building in Midtown Manhattan were closed off during the fire.

Trump later said the fire had been extinguished.

The four firefighters also suffered smoke inhalation in the blaze, but were expected to recover.

Twitter users posted pictures of flames shooting out of windows on the 50th floor.

According to ABC News, the four-alarm fire began at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7. Fire apartment officials said it was an electrical fire that had originated in the building's heating system. "THANK YOU!" he wrote on Twitter.

Saturday's incident comes three months after a minor fire broke out in a cooling tower on the roof of the building, CNN reported.

The publication reports that at the time, Trump had called city officials to argue that sprinklers were too expensive - at $4 per square foot - to install throughout an entire building. Before moving to the White House, Mr. Trump, the first lady and Barron Trump lived in the triplex penthouse apartment, which occupies sections of floors 66-68, according to Forbes.
