Fortnite, the Video Game Industry's Biggest Title, Offline for Second Day

Epic have also used the reddit thread to apologise for the instability, and have advised that hourly updates will be made until the issue is resolved; though there isn't now an ETA for Fortnite to be back online at the time of writing.

The latest update to Fortnite seems to have created some major issues for Epic Games. At about 8 p.m. ET, the official account for "Fortnite" tweeted it was taking the game offline.

Following many new additions, a new patch, and fixes to the game within the past 24 hours, the Fortnite servers have suddenly gone down and players are now unable to access the game at all.

We should also mention that Epic Games advised Fortnite: Battle Royale fans to keep refreshing the server status page and check to see if the servers are up. The issues started popping out at around 5:00 EST and they kept on getting worse as time went on.

We had a critical failure to one of the databases supporting our account service, and as a result our login and matchmaking systems were blocked. Thankfully it's one of the easiest challenges, so long as you know where to look. With over 20 million players it pretty clear that the game is popular and as such the developers have been keen to push out new and regular content updates. Epic has not done anything yet on this issue and they have not shared any more information or provided any details about the same.

KitGuru Says: Has Fortnite's extended downtime today affected you at all?

The login issues are likely due to the increased popularity of the game and many users attempting to log in at once.
