Syrian air defences shoot down missiles over two air bases

After Syria strikes, PM May to face critical parliament

With these latest strikes, the administration is putting the United States on the wrong side of worldwide law and is running the risk of a hot war with Russian Federation and Iran over a chemical-weapons attack about which we still have little evidence.

The United States, France and Britain conducted an unprecedented missile attack Saturday on the Syrian regime that Paris described as a matter of honor but admitted had solved nothing. The alleged gas attack, which Syrian activists say killed more than 40 people, prompted punitive U.S., British and French airstrikes.

Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov's remarks could indicate a possible attempt to bog down the team from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), though both Russia and the Syrian government have welcomed the visit in the wake of the West's air strikes in Syria over the weekend.

France says it is "highly likely" evidence disappeared from the site before weapons experts arrived in the area. Moscow said they didn't find any evidence of a chemical attack and rejected Western claims that Russian Federation was deliberately stalling the OPCW inspection to destroy all evidence of the attack. US ambassador Kenneth Ward said on Tuesday that he and USA allies believe that, in the 11 days since the attack, Russian forces have had plenty of time to tamper with the site.

French President Emmanuel Macron, however, on Sunday told a French television network that he had "convinced him that it's necessary to be there...we also convinced him that the strikes had to be limited to chemical weapons capabilities".

She said too many governments are ignoring the atrocities in her home country and would like to see Canada take more of a leadership role in ending the conflict.

"Many were excited there is finally something happening, that the (Syrian President Bashar) Assad regime will see some consequences, but other people were quite anxious about civilian casualties, further destruction of Syria", Khatib said. California Representative Ro Khanna called Trump's strike on Syria "unconstitutional" and observed that "our call for regime change in 2011 made the crisis worse". The ministry reported that a total of 103 cruise and air-to-surface missiles had been fired, 71 of them were shot down by Syria's air defense units.

It branded the incident an "aggression" but did not name a specific country.

The US and United Kingdom today accused Russian Federation of carrying out a series of cyber-attacks in order to spy on businesses and other governments, and steal information. According to the Syrian military, over 100 missiles were fired in this strick and the Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack, said it violated the global law and the UN Charter. And it shouldn't just be us doing it.

After Saturday's strikes, which destroyed mostly empty buildings, the trio of Western powers trying to reassert influence on the seven-year-old war have appeared to favour diplomatic action.

The airstrikes are but the latest in a long line of USA interventions in the Syrian civil war.

"There are certainly various asymmetric means through which Russia, Syria and Iran could respond inside Syria or outside", said Heller.

The Pentagon said that the USA was not involved in any strikes Tuesday morning.
