Steven Spielberg Developing a Film Adaptation of 'Blackhawk'

The new comic book adaptation will involve screenwriter David Koep (Jurassic Park) and secondary producer Kristie Macosko Krieger (Ready Player One).

Blackhawk tells the story of a squadron of seven World War II pilots led by a man named Blackhawk.

"Blackhawk", created by Chuck Cuidera with input by Bob Powell and Will Eisner, was first published by Quality Comics and later by DC. Spielberg later said that he enjoyed working with Warner Bros., because they bring passion and professionalism to their work and have a rich history in the superhero genre. Still, it fits in Spielberg's World War II wheelhouse, since it's about an worldwide squadron of Nazi-fighting pilots led by a man named Blackhawk.

Are you excited at the prospect of a Spielberg-directed DC film? Along with Aquaman, Shazam! and Wonder Woman 2 (all of which are in production), Warner Bros. has spinoffs in the works for Cyborg, the Flash, Harley Quinn, and the Joker. The Academy Awards victor will direct the film adaptation of DC Comics'- Blackhawk.

Spielberg last collaborated with Warner Bros. on Ready Player One which has grossed over $476 million worldwide since hitting theaters in March.

Spielberg has unrivaled experience bringing the Second World War to the silver screen, with titles to his credit including the 1995 Academy Award victor Schindler's List, 1998's Saving Private Ryan and 1987's Empire of the Sun.

Spielberg looks to be directing the aforementioned Indiana Jones film as his next project.

Alongside "West Side Story" and the fifth 'Indiana Jones, ' Steven Spielberg has taken on another project, his first DC movie.

The feather in WB's cap would only be that much bigger if it can convince Spielberg to direct the movie as well, which would make a lot more people curious.

Spielberg is producing Blackhawk through his Amblin Entertainment shingle, with former Warner Bros. studio executive Sue Kroll also signed on through her shingle, Kroll & Co.
