Amazon, Best Buy partner to sell Fire smart TVs

Amazon Fire TV

Beginning this summer with a TV from Toshiba, the agreement signs Best Buy on to sell more than 10 4K and HD Fire TV Edition models from Insignia and Toshiba to customers in the US and Canada in the future. Not least because the experience can become more visual.

Amazon has teamed up with Best Buy to offer Fire TV editions of Toshiba and Insignia smart TVs, which also means Alexa onboard.

The WSJ reports six years ago Best Buy was close to shutting its doors completely but after focusing on its e-commerce stores and price matching with Amazon it has survived the volatile market. This will be the first time Best Buy sells products on Amazon.

Best Buy will be the exclusive retailer selling the TVs as part of a multiyear agreement that deepens the relationship between the two companies.

Currently Amazon Australia only stocks the Fire TV stick, similar to a Google Chromecast. "Amazon partners with Best Buy because of its industry-leading role in bringing the latest technology to millions of customers", says one header.

"Amazon and Best Buy have a long history of working together, and today we take our partnership to a new level", said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. The partnership is a win for both companies. With true-to-life 4K UHD picture quality, premium Dolby surround sound, and access to all the movies and TV shows you love, Fire TV Edition delivers a superior TV experience that gets smarter everyday with Alexa.

In the coming years Best Buy executives said they will introduce other brands and models in various price points that will be integrated with Fire TV. "Our partnership with is exciting because we believe Fire TV Edition delivers an incredible user experience and further strengthens the growing connection between home theater, home automation and voice control".

The new TVs from Toshiba and Insignia will be branded "Fire TVs" and stream content from apps such as Netflix, HBO, PlayStation Vue, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.
