Student Injured in Florida School Shooting; Shooter in Custody

Sheriff: Shooting of Florida high school student 'intentional'

The injured student was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"I didn't kill anyone", he told a man with a video camera.

Of the 25 shooters involved in these situations, most were white males who acted alone, and only nine were said to be suffering from a diagnosed mental illness at the time. The suspect, a former student named Sky Bouche went without a fight.

On Friday, students from across the United States participated in the second National Walkout Day, a protest organised in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas School shooting in Florida back in February. Marion County investigators said the suspect put on a tactical vest and gloves in the bathroom and initially planned to do the shooting on Friday the 13th. Bouche allegedly shot through a classroom doorway and pellets hit on a 17-year-old scholar while in the ankle. Instead, they experienced their own traumatic event.

The suspected shooter is in custody and has yet to be identified.

Deputies are searching the school to make sure there are no other threats, Strong said.

The shooting call came in to law enforcement at 8:39 a.m.

He said he got the gun just after the school shooting in Parkland and before the legal age to buy shotguns was raised to 21. "Bouche also expressed to detectives that he felt ignored, and made statements that he could potentially conduct another shooting in the future". A 17-year-old boy was hit in the ankle.

"It (school violence) has made its way home", Johnson said.

The injured student was being treated by medics, spokeswoman Valerie Strong said. "I asked, 'Did you shoot a gun?' He said he did shoot a gun".

According to the Star-Banner, Bouche dropped the gun after firing into the door, then surrendered to Kelly McManis-Panasuk, who had taught him when he attended Forest High.

"He wanted to be arrested", McManis-Panasuk said.

"I did not take anybody", he thought to strangers. I think it really was an accident. In the Parkland shooting, school resource officer Scot Peterson retired amid accusations he didn't do enough to confront the Stoneman Douglas gunman.

All schools are on Code Yellow as a PRECAUTION.

All Marion County schools are now on a code yellow, in which students stay locked in their classrooms with their teachers as a precaution, according to a post on the Marion County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Jake Mailhiot, 16, a junior, posted a photo to social media of desks, chairs and other furniture piled high over the door to the classroom where he was studying psychology.
