Yemen rebels say strike kills senior official

Exacerbating bombing of Yemeni residential areas, 'sign of desperation of intruders'

At least 20 people were killed in two Saudi-led coalition air attacks in northwestern Yemen, residents and medical personnel said.

Even so, following the latest missile strike report, Human Rights Watch said that "Houthi forces in Yemen violated the laws of war by launching ballistic missiles indiscriminately at populated areas in Saudi Arabia on March 25, 2018".

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Monday described the escalation of Saudi-led air strikes on civilians in Yemen's residential areas as a "sign of frustration and failure of the aggressors" that have attacked Yemen.

"We take this report very seriously and it will be fully investigated as all reports of this nature are".

The strike wounded 32 children, according to the head of the Al-Jimhori hospital in Hajja Mohammed AlSomali.

The coalition intervened in Yemen's civil war in 2015 against Houthi rebels who overthrew the internationally recognised government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. One widely shared video showed a young boy clinging to the shirt of his dead father, crying, "No, no, no".

"Attacks on residential areas and civilian targets and blocking the Yemeni people's access to worldwide relief agencies and institutions are violations of humanitarian principles and rules".

The coalition says the Houthis are armed and supported by Saudi arch-adversary Iran - charges the group and Tehran deny. Indiscriminate shelling and sniper fire by Houthi rebels in heavily populated areas accounted for most of the remaining dead and wounded, a United Nations statement added.
