Firefighters tackle blaze at Trump Tower in Baku

Reflecting the building's significance in Azerbaijan, Emergency Situations Minister Kamalladin Heydarov was at the scene.

Azerbaijani firefighters work on the scene of the Trump-branded constructing in Baku, Azerbaijan, Saturday.

A fire broke out at the Trump Organization's unopened hotel in Azerbaijan on Saturday, according to media reports.

The deputy head of the emergency ministry, Itebar Merziyev, confirmed that the accident did not cause any casualties or injuries, adding that the authorities opened investigations to find out the causes of the fire. Then the fire was extinguished three hours later.

The building, which remains unfinished, was previously associated with US President Donald Trump who had agreed to turn it into a hotel and apartment complex that would bear his name.

The Associated Press reports that Trump earned between $2.5 million and $2.8 million between 2012 and 2016 in hotel management fees despite it never opening to the public.

The fire takes place just weeks after another blaze at Trump Tower in NY in which art dealer Todd Brassner died.
