Israel Must Address Excessive Use of Force and Deaths in Gaza Protests

Palestinians stand next to a collapsed part of the Israeli barrier following heavy weather near the refugee camp of Shuafat in East Jerusalem

In the fifth consecutive week of the protest at the Gaza-Israel border, dubbed by organisers as the "The Great March of Return", four Palestinians have been killed.

The Israeli army said around 10,000 people had taken part in "riots" along the border on Friday, saying troops responded with "riot dispersal means".

This year's Land Day demonstrations appear especially combustible as Palestinian anger is already high over Trump's decision in December 2017 to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's "capital".

The Palestinian Authority blamed Hamas for the assassination attempt and President Mahmoud Abbas threatened the movement that it would bear the consequences if it did not hand over everything in the Gaza Strip to the government.

More than 30 Palestinian athletes have been injured by Israeli gunfire during anti-occupation rallies on border of the Gaza Strip since last month, according to a Palestinian official.

The return march protests are calling for millions of Palestinians to be allowed to return to their historic homes, that are now inside Israel.

Gaza's ruling group Hamas blamed the Palestinian Authority on Saturday for the March 13 roadside explosion that targeted Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah's convoy.

Draft Drop Fuels Josh Rosen
Rosen said he "obviously" wants to be the starter for Arizona but won't disrupt the room and will support whoever gets the ball. But for some reason, the second I got that call, all of that went away and motivation stepped in".

Leading global legal experts says Israel is following agreements set in the 1995 Olso II accords that envisage the dangers inherent in attempts to approach the border.

Footage filmed inside Gaza showed youths at a barbed wire fence, being urged to "cut, cut".

Israel's use of live fire has drawn global criticism.

Hamas has attacked Israelis with suicide bombings, shootings and rockets over the years. He said an exception was Friday, when soldiers opened fire at a large crowd that attempted to break through the border fence, killing three people.

Israel has repeatedly expressed concern over the possibility of a mass breach, in which Gazans would stream across with terrorists among them, wreaking havoc.

Hamas has also in the past claimed Faraj's men were behind the attack as part of a plan to justify PA sanctions against the Gaza-ruling terror group following another ill-fated reconciliation deal.

Gaza medical officials said two protesters who were struck by bullets were in critical condition in hospital and 600 others were wounded.
