Most US voters trust Federal Bureau of Investigation ex-chief Comey more than Trump

President Trump during a meeting in the Cabinet Room of the White House earlier this month

Gowdy was speaking with Tucker Carlson on Fox News about the interview Comey had with Bret Baier earlier Thursday when he added that what Comey calls a leak is what everyone else calls a felony. On Fox, he said Trump's accusations of leaking were "just wrong".

His White House aides hate when he does such a fired-up, rambling and totally unscripted appearance.

But gas-bagging and loud-mouthing it for 30 minutes when you're a candidate is one thing, and gas-bagging it when you are president of the United States and facing serious legal challenges is another.

In the latest Harvard Caps-Harris Poll, almost 70 percent say that special counsel Robert Mueller and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein should not be fired.

Nowhere did he get more safe, free time than on Fox, especially on his favorite morning show, "Fox & Friends". "You're in charge and you have a Republican running it".

Last week, the Justice Department's Office of the Inspector General said it was opening an investigation into whether Comey leaked classified information when he gave memos outlining conversations between him and President Trump to a friend with instructions to disseminate them to media outlets. It was also during that time that members of the Obama administration were unmasking members of the Trump campaign in electronic and telephonic communications.

Though Comey's overall approval rating was negative, 54 percent of the polled said they believed Comey over the president.

While digging into the biggest revelation - Trump admitting his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, represented him on this "crazy Stormy Daniels' deal" - Meyers was stunned by the president's slip.

It is not certain how the texts will be received by Congress but according to several Congressional sources, the redacted version of the texts will be delivered, while the unredacted version will remain in possession of the DOJ, where they can be viewed by Congressional investigators. "These are false and they're trying to destroy a man".

"It's not even going to be considered on the Senate floor". Instead, he mounted an attack on the Democrats for dragging out the confirmation process for one nominee after another.

Mr. Comey has been on a media tour since the release of his book "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership", about his time in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and his relationship with President Trump.

Trump shouted down the phone: "Our Justice Department, which I try and stay away from, but at some point I won't, should be looking at that kind of stuff [his allegation of anti-Trump bias in the FBI], not the nonsense of collusion with Russian Federation".
