Apple's Earnings: iPhone Numbers Just Keep Coming Down

In the leadup to the iPhone X reveal past year, analysts were visibly salivating at the prospect of an iPhone upgrade "supercycle", a tidal wave of profitability that would sweep Apple stocks to never-before-seen heights and truly enthrone Apple as the king of all smartphone makers. GBH Insights analyst Daniel Ives said. The benefit of this new technology is that it will make the iPhone's display lighter and more resistant to impact. Also, the stock of Apple has seen a downfall of 8% during March and April and was observed at $164.22 on Thursday.

Apple is rumored to be working on its largest iPhone ever and two other phones.

Ming-Chi Kuo is one of the biggest supply chain sources when it comes to Apple products. Notably, this price is more than iPhone 8 Plus by $200 and is more than iPhone 8 by $300.

Interestingly, the images also show the handset with a headphone jack, which Apple controversially chose to ditch on the iPhone 7 and more recently with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

Oppenheimer analyst Andrew Uerkwitz cut his sales and earnings estimates for Apple for the next two years. In addition to this, Kuo also covered Apple as part of Concord Securities in 2011.

Also, a recent report noted that the iPhone X made much more money compared to the combined profit of all Android smartphones in the fourth quarter. That made it hard to price the product much below $1,395, without slicing Apple's legendary profitability.

When the X launched past year, Apple paid handsomely for the new Face ID system, stainless steel casing and sharper, more efficient OLED screen technology. This model will have a new type of display, he said, one that uses what's called Cover Glass Sensor technology instead of having touch sensors built into the display itself. However, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus looked similar to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models from about three years earlier. While I am not sold on the news completely, I do see a possibility of that happening especially since iPhone X isn't doing so well right now.
