Ovechkin scores, leads Caps over Pens to tie series

The Pittsburgh Penguins are just 1-2 at home during the playoffs, while the Washington Capitals are riding an eight-game road winning streak. Matter of fact, when the two players and their respective teams have collided in the post-season, Ovechkin has been just as good, if not better than Crosby from a statistical perspective.

After blowing a two-goal lead for the third time in these playoffs in Game 1, this time Washington built on it. For the second straight game, Washington was up 2-0, but the team had squandered that kind of cushion three times in its previous seven playoff games, including Game 1 against the Penguins. With Crosby and Malkin on the team, the Penguins have never lost a playoff series in which they took a two-games-to-none lead. This trend continued in Game 2, as Caps captain Alex Ovechkin scored 86 seconds after the opening faceoff. Byfuglien scored between Rinne's pads on a four-on-four at 12:47, and Scheifele made it 2-1 with a power-play goal at 13:16.

Connor Hellebuyck, a Vezina Trophy finalist as the NHL's top goaltender, starred for the Jets in making 47 saves in Game 1. So a bad start isn't the worst thing in the world.

Twenty shots to start the game and two goals over the all-too-familiar Achilles heel of Murray and no defensive awareness in the neutral zone to account for the Capitals speed. Everyone who saw the replay knew it was a goal, so the Capitals really caught a break.

Washington hasn't been stellar at five-on-five this postseason as far as scoring. That was Ovechkin's second goal in as many games and his third point. Sure, the Capitals have the regular season edge, holding a 23-21-8 record in the 52 meetings between the two teams in the post-lockout National Hockey League, but the Penguins have won and won often when it counts. Today I think we play a solid game. That is an average of 1.875 points per game. The Capitals were able to generate pressure on two of their power-plays, converting on one of them.

US concerned by "destabilising and malign activities" of Iran -Pompeo
The attack is the latest sign that the raging civil war in Yemen continues to further threaten stability in the region. Pompeo reassured Saudi Arabia that the United States would abandon the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran .

It is, however, worth noting the Penguins scored their lone goal on a four-on-four. "It presents a challenge for the rest of our defensemen". "I end up getting taken out as well". In fact one could argue that Crosby, who is a two-time Conn Smythe Trophy victor over the last two seasons, is putting together the best postseason in 11 trips to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby had a very rough series against the Pittsburgh Penguins past year.

Pekka Rinne faced 50 shots in the Nashville net, and he stopped 46 of them.

He'll need to keep playing at this level if the Capitals want to beat the Penguins.

The play eventually went to video review, but even most of the angles shown on replay didn't provide a conclusive answer to whether the puck crossed the line. Holtby needs to remain a net positive.
