Sam Allardyce says he can't do anymore to win over Everton fans

Allardyce has lifted Everton to eighth place in the Premier League

Sam Allardyce remains determined to gain Everton approval after fans unfurled a banner illustrating their unhappiness with his style of play.

The club have lost just one of their last seven matches, with the defeat coming against Manchester City, but many fans are still wanting to get rid of the former England boss.

Following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman and a short spell for David Unsworth as caretaker early on in the season, Allardyce took charge of Everton in November and led them away from the relegation zone and up to eighth in the Premier League.

Asked how the abuse had affected Allardyce, Everton forward Rooney said: "Obviously he's thick-skinned and I'm sure he'll keep doing what he does and whatever happens, happens".

"I'm sorry some fans don't like it but we are trying as hard as we can, myself, my staff and the players".

Simon Harris to organise free repeat smear tests after cervical cancer controversy
THE MOTHER OF TWO appeared on Saturday's Ray D'Arcy show to tell her heartbreaking story of a delayed cervical cancer diagnosis. When she had another spread test in 2014 she had cervical cancer .

Allardyce was pleased with Everton's rise during his five-month reign and has urged his team to improve next season.

"Our efforts, from the players particularly, have been fantastic", Allardyce told the Daily Mail following Saturday's win at the John Smith's Stadium. When you hit that safe 40-point mark it's very easy for a player to think about his holidays and actually switch off. "We're pushing ourselves as high up in the league as we possibly can". It's a good win and that's 11 points in six games. I think they've only conceded four goals at home all season and he's called the master of defence. "The players' qualities in the end have shone through and our performance as the game went on got stronger and stronger".

"We have to deal with it".

"We are anything but without a chance still".
