Grand Rapids Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Saturday, May 12

Military Outreach Ministries

“Our food drives timing is crucial, ” Muniz continued. The Owatonna Letter Carriers will be participating in this food drive, and all you have to do is put a bag of food out by your mailboxes that day. "They truly care and understand that many hardworking people still struggle with the high cost of living here in Morris County and may be one illness or auto breakdown away from needing food assistance". A year ago the total food distributed was 200,000 pounds! Nonperishable food items placed by the mailbox will be picked up that day.

The National Association of Letter Carriers is holding its annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Saturday, May 12.

Laurie Chavez, Community Food Project Manager said, "The need is so big in the Rio Grande Valley, that of course we want to surpass our poundage from previous year". Hunger affects about 50 million people around the country, including millions of children, senior citizens and veterans.

The proceeds raised by the BCFP water, soft drink and hot dog concession help support our ongoing efforts to assist those in our community who struggle with daily food insecurity. "The need (for donations) is great, and as we've said in previous years, all the food items collected in the Claremore area stay in the Claremore area, benefiting local families through local food pantries".

The National Association of Letter Carriers is here to help out with this need.

Carriers will bring the food to local food banks, pantries or shelters.

This is a partnership event with United Way, Feeding America and the USPS.
