Free Comic Book Day Returns to Cleveland This Saturday

Comic book lovers today is your day

Imaginary Worlds Comics 13446 Cedar Rd, Cleveland Heights, 216-273-7423 Imaginary Worlds Comics loves Free Comic Book Day so much they're celebrating Saturday and Sunday. The basic details are all there including name, address, and phone number.

According to the Free Comic Book Day website, the event is hosted every year on the first Saturday in May worldwide as an opportunity to bring readers into participating independent shops by giving out free comic books. You can find a participating store near you by searching via the link here.

If that locator doesn't provide any results, don't lose hope. Take a trip to the Ladner Pioneer Library and check out A Short History of Comic Books from 1 to 2 p.m., presented by Imperial Hobbies. Additionally, the store is offering a discount on hardcover books. There's a nice tradeoff though, as many stores will offer Free Comic Book Day deals on everything from individual issues to graphic novels and even toys and figures. Every customer who comes by throughout the day will get five free comics and if they donate a dollar to the American Red Cross they will also be able to get an additional three books. If you can't make it this year, it's still good to tweet about it on social media for your local stores to get views with the hashtags FreeComicBookDay or FCBD.

Hunched over a box in the back of A Comic Shop, owner Aaron Haaland works getting things together.

Free Comic Book Day is on May 5, 2018.

Don't hesitate to visit more than one location either, if that's an option. Marvel Comics Executive Editor Tom Brevoort says, "Marvel's two Free Comic Book Day releases feature the inaugural installments of our new AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN series, by our very finest talent!"
