Saints Pro Bowl RB Mark Ingram Suspended 4 Games For PEDs

Mark Ingram rushed for a career-high 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns last season

The NFL has suspended New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

According to The Advocate's Nick Underhill, Ingram will be allowed to participate in offseason activities and the preseason, he just won't be able to play in the team's first four games.

Ingram and his representatives at VIP Sports Management have not commented on the test results or whether Ingram will appeal.

Last season, a breakout campaign for the Heisman Trophy victor, Ingram rushed for 1,124 yards and scored 12 touchdowns - both career highs. He also caught 58 passes for 416 yards.

The New Orleans Saints are expecting another productive year from running backs Mark Ingram (#22) and Alvin Kamara (#41).

Veteran running back Ingram - a two-time Pro Bowler - was hit with a four-game suspension, the National Football League announced on Tuesday.

Ingram ranks second in Saints' history to Deuce McAllister in career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

The Saints found an appeal complement for Ingram past year in breakout star Alvin Kamara, who proved to be a versatile creator out of the backfield. They start at home against the Buccaneers and Browns, and then have road games at the Falcons and Giants.

His Pro Bowl 2017 season coincided with Kamara's breakout debut. For good measure Kamara also ran back a kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Ingram is heading into his eighth season - all with the Saints - after being taken with the 28th overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
