Following the violent attack, Miz Grande not only visited with victims in hospitals, but also oversaw the One Love Manchester benefit concert.

Thousands of well-wishers gathered in Albert Square a year to the day suicide bomber Salman Abedi launched his attack that killed 22 people - including children as young as eight - who were at an Ariana Grande concert. "Thinking of you all today and every day", she wrote, with an emoji of the bumblebee which is a symbol of Manchester.

They included Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis, One Day Like This by Elbow and Never Forget by Take That.

Last night's evening of solidarity through music began with a series of video messages from some famous names, including many Mancunians.

One of the groups performing is the Manchester Survivors Choir, a group made up of those who were there on the night of the attack, and a local school choir that performed onstage with Grande at the One Love concert.

"You who were hurt or bereaved 12 months ago today are forever part of Manchester, forever part of us", said bishop of Manchester David Walker.

Mani from The Stone Roses said: 'One voice Manchester - sing it up'. "It will also give thanks to emergency workers who assisted on the ground and in the aftermath of the attack". We have at times become complacent to the evil of terrorism in some parts of our community; this is not good enough we should confront this evil and not hesitate to call out the actions of these evil people, their supporters and financial backers.

There has been a nationwide one minute silence to mark the anniversary and a concert will be held.

It follows a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral, which saw Prince William join political leaders and the families of the victims to remember.

Photographs of those who died in the bombing were displayed on screens in the cathedral shortly before the silence and 22 lit candles on the altar represented each one of the victims, which were made using wax from the thousands of candles left in St Ann's Square in their memory last May.

Among the dignitaries who were present were the Duke of Cambridge, Prime Minister Theresa May, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable, Greater Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and Sir Richard Leese, the leader of Manchester City Council.

Bells will ring out across the city center at 10:31 p.m.to mark the exact moment of the explosion past year.
