Alberto approaches Panhandle, as more rain expected in Central Florida

Pensacola Florida is seen

Due to the threat of heavy rain and potential flooding, Gov. Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency in all 67 Florida counties.

"This is jogging more to the east and will hit the Florida panhandle", Burke said. The official National Hurricane Center forecast released Thursday said the season is likely to be near or above normal. Meteorologists expect a 60 percent chance of rain with winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour, and gusts of up to 25 miles per hour.

Alberto is expected to make landfall on Monday, with tropical storm force winds already reaching Florida and Alabama Monday morning.

A storm surge watch remains in place for Coastal Citrus county.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect...

Alberto is moving north at 15 miles per hour with a minimum pressure of 1001 mb.

Strong to severe storms will also be possible embedded in the rain on Sunday. Flash flooding is also possible. If you live in a low-lying area, please be prepared to seek higher ground and never drive through flooded roads.

Subtropical Storm Alberto is whipping around over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and may land on the Florida panhandle by sunrise on Memorial Day morning, according to weather experts.

In addition to parts of the southeastern US, the heavy rains and storm conditions could produce "life-threatening flash floods and mudslides" in Cuba, the NHC said.

North Korea to make a show of nuclear test site shutdown
Trump said he'd noticed "a little change" in Kim's attitude after the trip. "The hawks on both sides can say 'I told you so'". Asked whether Trump was willing to abandon the summit if his terms aren't met, Pence said "there's no question".

Right now, it looks like Alberto will make landfall sometime tomorrow afternoon/evening near Pensacola, FL.

The storm is expected to lead to power outages, tree damage and compromise weaker structures.

A storm surge warning was in place from the Suwannee River to Navarre, Florida and a tropical storm warning covered from the Suwannee River to the border of MS and Alabama. The Florida Keys were likely to get several inches of rain.

It is expected that Alberto will bring heavy rainfall that will last well into the week and stretch into areas of the Ohio Valley.

Flash flood watches have been posted for much of Florida, and along the Gulf Coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and southwest Georgia.

As I mentioned before, we will tap into some of the moisture associated with Alberto, but no direct impacts expected here.

A graphic from the National Weather Service shows Subtropical Storm Alberto's projected path as of 5 p.m. ET on May 28, 2018. Then clouds breaking for some sun early this afternoon, with the most breaks in the clouds mid to late day.

"For the earlier part of the day there are just showers". "The risk for heavy rainfall and flooding will then spread over much of the southeast US tonight and Monday".
