'It was really hard after Mo's injury'

Klopp confirms Mohamed Salah is likely to miss World Cup

An online petition urging UEFA and Federation Internationale de Football Association to punish Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos for an injury suffered by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has reached 400,000 signatures.

However, many Liverpool fans were left angry and disappointed when Salah was brought down by Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

The official Twitter account of the Egyptian team, @Pharaohs, posted a picture of Salah with the caption: "Get well soon @MoSalah".

"I think that Liverpool will not allow Salah to take the cortisone because it is risky for the player in the long term and will press hard to complete the treatment for two months, which unfortunately means that we will not see the star Mohamed Salah in the World Cup".

What do you make of Salah's antics in the CL final?

And, just as Salah tweeted his fitness update, fresh reports in Egypt claimed he had only suffered a strain in the shoulder ligaments and is expected to be back in action in three weeks.

The Egyptian FA released a statement on Monday stating that they, too, are hopeful the Reds superstar will be fit for their first game at the World Cup.

Aziz added that Salah would hopefully be in the final list of Egypt's team at the World Cup, to be officially announced on June 4.

Salah's injury played a major role in Liverpool's failure to win a sixth European Cup. Have your say in the comments section below.

And he became Public Enemy No. 1 after tangling with Salah early in the final, which Real Madrid eventually won 3-1. "It doesn't look good".

The quadrennial showpiece kicks off on June 14 and Egypt, who are in Group A, open their campaign on June 15 when they take on South American side Uruguay at the Ekaterinburg Arena in Ekaterinburg.

Even as Liverpool lost amid double errors by keeper Loris Karius and a blinder by Gareth Bale, Klopp believed losing Salah was the game changer.

The Spanish worldwide brought down Mo Salah in the first half, resulting in the Egyptian suffering a dislocated shoulder and missing the rest of the 90 minutes.
