State TV Shows President Trump Saluting North Korean Officer During Summit

Donald Trump Kim Jong-un come togther for historic Ten things to know about the Singapore summit

Kim agreed to the "complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula", a stock phrase favoured by Pyongyang that stopped short of long-standing USA demands for North Korea to give up its atomic arsenal in a "verifiable" and "irreversible" way.

The Trump administration has been adamant that USA inspectors must be on the ground, alongside scientists from other countries, to ensure North Korea is following through on its pledge to denuclearize.

But details on what form those promises would take were sparse, with critics noting the lack of a timeline for when North Korea will begin dismantling its nuclear programme.

President Donald Trump seemingly justified the brutal actions of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, and said he thinks the two leaders "understand each other".

Moon said he was satisfied with the outcome of the summit and what is most important is that it has allowed the world to escape from the threats of a nuclear war and long-range missiles.

For his part, Wang said China has a "firm commitment" to denuclearisation but that North Korea's "legitimate" concerns must be addressed.

Speaking to reporters from Seoul, South Korea, Pompeo was laying out an ambitious timeline for denuclearization following President Donald Trump's meeting with Kim Jong Un.

But they were effectively postponed when North Korea, angered at a U.S.

"We will invest our best efforts to bring in a new era of peace on the Korean Peninsula", South Korean Maj.

He said the United States would like "major" North Korean nuclear disarmament by the end of 2020, and that Pyongyang understood there would be "in-depth verification" of the process.

"The mistakes of the past were [that] they were providing economic relief before complete denuclearisation". "Complete denuclearization certainly encompasses that idea very clearly", he said. "North Korea has great potential for the future!" Their intercontinental ballistic missiles have the range to hit the US mainland, though there are still major questions about their accuracy and ability to deliver an in-tact warhead.

Tokyo is working on arranging a meeting between the prime minister, Shinzo Abe, and Kim, with one possibility being an Abe visit to Pyongyang around August, the Yomiuri newspaper reported.

The resolutions "have mechanisms for relief contained in them and we agreed that at the appropriate time that those would be considered", Pompeo said. That was interpreted as meaning the U.S. would grant concessions to North Korea concessions along the way despite longstanding United States insistence that it would not. The official acknowledged, however, it was still not certain how that was going to happen.

North Korean viewers had to wait nearly 20 minutes into the program for Trump's first appearance.
