Mark Jackson Says He'd Trade Lonzo Ball For Kawhi Leonard

AP source Kawhi Leonard wants a trade from Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers have been connected to several superstars this summer, dating back over a year.

There's still a lot of offseason left, and the reporting around the Leonard situation, and the betting lines it influences, are both likely to continue to evolve in somewhat unpredictable ways. However, now is a chance for the Raptors, under new head coach Nick Nurse, to create a new look team featuring Kawhi Leonard.

Cleveland may have the least to offer for Leonard and that may be the best thing to happen to them.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday that Leonard would prefer a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, a move that would return him to his hometown. Per Haynes' sources, Leonard "has grown frustrated with how the organization handled his quad injury and feels the franchise turned on him once he sought a second opinion".

As for the Sixers, who have almost completed their rebuild, the possibility of Leonard leaving the Sixers in free agency would mean the Sixers have lost a top-ten pick and a pretty good forward for nothing.

The Spurs-Leonard fallout is one of the wildest in recent memory, with a lingering right-quadriceps injury and confusion over how to rehab it driving a wedge between the two sides during the season. The Clippers also have more to offer the Spurs than the Lakers do.

Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs dribbles the ball against the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on February 13, 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This means that if the Spurs do in fact decide to trade him, he will have no say as to where he ends up.

We'll get to more on Leonard's contract in the minute, but James would be hard pressed to find a place where he could pair with two other players of this caliber in an attempt to take down the Golden State Warriors.

The Spurs probably wouldn't trade Leonard to the Knicks if they can't get Porzingis and the Knicks, who are trying to rebuild, aren't going to give up their best player just so that they can get Leonard. A report surfaced over the weekend that said Phoenix would explore the possibility of trading the pick if they were blown away by an offer.
