Pundits Question Whether Trump Team Leaked News of Bombshell Tapes

An attorney for President Donald Trump's former lawyer says "any attempt at spin can not change what is on" a recording of Trump discussing a potential payment for a former Playboy model's account of having an affair with him years ago.

When The Wall Street Journal reported on AMI's payments to McDougal days before the election, the Trump campaign denied knowing about them.

Trump added. Trump's onetime personal attorney Michael Cohen recorded a conversation with Trump two months before the 2016 election in which they discussed buying the rights to a story by a former Playboy model who said she had an affair with Trump, one of the President's lawyers said on Friday.

"The transaction that Michael is talking about on the tape never took place, but what's important is: If it did take place, the president said it has to be done correctly and it has to be done by check" to keep a proper record of it, Giuliani said.

Green said Cohen was unlikely to raise his need to defend himself to avoid an ethics charge "because if Trump and Cohen were committing crimes together, and that's why Cohen recorded their calls, then Cohen has bigger disciplinary problems". This begs the question: If Cohen recorded this conversation, what else was swept up in that now infamous raid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of his home, office and hotel room on April 9, 2018?

Rachel Maddow suspects the news of this damning tape Michael Cohen has of Donald Trump may have been leaked from the Trump camp.

On Friday, Lanny Davis, an attorney for Cohen, said in a statement: "Obviously, there is an ongoing investigation, and we are sensitive to that".

Fortnite has crossed the $1 billion revenue mark
Despite the game being free, Epic is raking in monumental amounts of cash from the microtransactions within the cartoon shooter. Games like PUBG, H1Z1 and DayZ may have started the trend, but Fortnite's caused it to explode into the mainstream.

It could also further entangle the president in a criminal investigation that for months has targeted Mr Cohen.

The tabloid sat on the story, preventing it from being made public in a practice known as "catch and kill".

On the recording, Trump and Cohen were discussing payments to American Media Inc., or AMI, the parent company of The Enquirer, whose chairman, David J. Pecker, is friendly with the president. In January the lawyer was involved in a scandal about the intimate connection of the US President and a porn star Stormy Daniels, who claimed that Cohen paid her $ 130 thousand for the silence about affair with trump.

Before the election, the Trump campaign denied any knowledge of payment to McDougal, but the taped conversation could undermine those denials.

Davis said "any attempt at spin can not change what is on the tape". The article, unusually, included a confirmation by the President's lawyer, the former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani, who argued that the tape was good news for his client.

Since news of the secretly recorded conversations broke, Trump has attempted to claim that recording their conversations was illegal. It was later revealed that the White House may have leaked the tape.

After the initial raid on Cohen's office and hotel room, Trump unleashed a furious assault on Special Counsel Robert Mueller, saying of the raid, "It's an attack on our country ... what we all stand for".
