North Korea's Kim Jong Un says soldiers' diets should be improved

North Korea,nuclear weapon,test launch

North Korea has begun dismantling its main nuclear test site, research group 28 North said Monday.

Satellite images of the Sohae station seen by US-based monitoring group 38 North suggest Pyongyang is complying with a promise made to the USA in June.

The images published by 38 North, a US-based website focused on North Korea that is affiliated with the Stimson Center in Washington, were taken by the commercial companies Digital Globe and Airbus Defence and Space on July 20 and July 22, respectively.

Most notably, these include the rail-mounted processing building-where space launch vehicles are prepared before moving them to the launch pad-and the nearby rocket engine test stand used to develop liquid-fuel engines for ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles.

Since the June 12 summit, the president said the North Korea nuclear threat is over and that North Korea would destroy another missile site after his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Two days later, images showed one corner of the structure had been completely dismantled and parts were scattered on the ground, the website said.

"We're all pursuing the denuclearization of North Korea and a new future of prosperity, security and peace on the Korean Peninsula and all of Asia", Trump told a VFW convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

A report in The Washington Post at the weekend said that, despite positive assessments Trump has given on progress with North Korea, he has vented anger at aides over a lack of immediate progress.

On Monday, the U.S. State, Treasury and Homeland Security departments said, "The worldwide community can not let up on pressure" until North Korea ends its nuclear weapons program.

The Trump administration has maintained optimism about the diplomatic process aimed at persuading the North to abandon its nuclear weapons program, insisting there's "no rush" to reach a final deal.

Record Heat Broils Japan. Beware Of "Cruelly Hot Weather", Officials Warn
Excessive heat was also observed in both South and North Korea on Monday, the Associated Press reported . Thousands of people in Japan have been rushed to hospitals with heatstroke symptoms during the heatwave.

North Korea's coal-intensive industries and manufacturing sectors have suffered as the UN Security Council ratcheted up the sanctions in response to years of nuclear tests by Pyongyang.

While several members of the media have decided President Donald Trump's negotiations with North Korea have mostly failed, new commercial satellite imagery of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station may soon have some reporters eating crow.

Given the state of activity at both sites, 38 North estimated that dismantling work began sometime in the past two weeks.

"We had a fantastic meeting with Chairman Kim and it seems to be going very well", Trump said.

When Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited North Korea recently, Kim didn't meet him, and instead toured a potato farm.

"The scope and scale of that is agreed to", Pompeo said, adding, "The North Koreans understand what that means".

Kim Jong Un personally promised President Donald Trump these sites would get taken down, so this will go a long way towards building confidence.

"What we have been seeing is certain countries wanting to do waivers, certain countries saying, 'Let's lift sanctions, ' certain countries wanting to do more", she said.

Analysts, however, have expressed skepticism that the North is willing to give up its hard-won nuclear weapons.
