We'll stay in Syria until Iran leaves, says Donald Trump

The Trump Effect, Crude Oil Prices Fall Across the Board

The outburst came less than a week after the president claimed he could make a "real deal" with Iran.

Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri said that U.S. threats will draw a "strong, unimaginable and regrettable" response from Tehran, according to IRNA.

He also mocked Trump's behavior stating that the president's "language is still the ethics of nightclubs and gambling halls".

An Iranian special forces commander has warned President Donald Trump that if the USA attacks Iran it "will destroy all that you possess". You start the war, but we end it up, go and ask your predecessors, commanders, and security forces.

"We are near you, where you can't even imagine ..." "Do not play with the lion's tail", he said, "because you will regret it eternally".

In a televised speech Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, stating that the US can't block Iranian oil from the global market, said to Trump, "Do not play with the lion's tail or else you will regret it".

ABC reported that the Australian government is divided over whether they think Trump is ready to act or whether his Twitter threats to Iran were bluster.

Tensions between the USA and Iran date back before the Trump administration.

In response, Trump issued an all-caps tweet in which he said Iran would face "consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before" if it threatened the usa again.

Oil prices edged lower on Monday as the focus turned to oversupply worries, moving away from escalating tensions between the US and Iran, which had driven prices higher early in the session.

Iran has already filed a complaint against the USA with the International Court of Justice, citing its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and sanctions against Tehran, Rohani said.

Iran, which is a main oil supplier, has previously threatened to shut the Straits of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important choke points as it isthe only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean.

Those sanctions are now set to be reimposed in November, causing more than 50 worldwide firms to exit the Iranian market, according to State Department policy and planning director Brian Hook.

He said the Red Sea, which used to be a safe place, is no longer safe for Americans today.

The prospect of sanctions on Crude Oil exports from Iran, the world's 5th-biggest Crude Oil producer, has helped drive up Crude Oil prices in recent weeks with both Key Crude Oil contracts trading near 3.5 year highs.
