Gonzalo Higuain Is AC Milan Player, Leonardo Bonucci Goes Other Way

David Luiz Heaps Praise on 'Fantastic' Youngster

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta said the deal that would see Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara move to AC Milan in exchange for Leonardo Bonucci and cash was "just about done" on Wednesday, but by late that night on the east coast of the USA, manager Massimiliano Allegri was already talking about the 24-year-old in the past tense.

Another speculation which is doing rounds in Italian media is that AC Milan's defender Leonardo Bonucci can switch his allegiances back to his older club Juventus after spending just one season at Rossoneri.

The celebrated striker has completed his medical with the club.

Juventus forward, Paulo Dybala, has bid farewell to Gonzalo Higuain, as he finalises a move to AC Milan.

Gonzalo Higuain's negotiations with AC Milan have reportedly hit a snag, giving Chelsea a late boost in their pursuit of the striker.

Leonardo deserves praise in particular for this part of the deal, as reports suggest that Milan made it immediately clear that the only way Bonucci could return to Turin was if Caldara was included in the deal.

Furthermore, Juventus defender Mattia Caldara - who is also a Chelsea target - is being discussed as a potential makeweight in the deal.

But according to CalcioMercato, the Blues' hopes of signing the highly-rated centre-back have now been extinguished.

Bonucci made a shock switch to Milan past year, as the Rossoneri sought to bring in a raft of signings to once again emerge as the biggest Italian club.

Bonucci, capped 80 times by Italy, spent seven years at Juventus, where he won six Serie A titles and reached two Champions League finals, before leaving for the San Siro last summer.

However, the €112m signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid earlier in July pushed Higuain down the pecking order at the Allianz Stadium.
