Trump claims tapes of him saying the 'n-word' don't exist

The Omarosa tapes: did Trump's former aide break the law?

Campaign finance records show several former aides to President Donald Trump have received payments of roughly $15,000 per month from campaign or party accounts, bolstering part of former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman's claim that she was offered the same amount to keep quiet about her time in the White House.

The alleged tape figures a central role in Manigault's book, where she says that she sought to uncover the evidence of racism until she was sacked by White House chief of staff John Kelly.

"I didn't discover it until the fall of the campaign in 2016, when a producer, Bill Pruitt, came out and he tweeted that Donald Trump had said some very disgusting things", she told Matthews.

The audio tapes, which were released on NBC's Today show on Monday, include an alleged phone call between herself and President Trump directly following her December 2017 sacking, in which the President expressed surprise that she had been fired.

"He knew that John Kelly was going to take me into the 'Situation Room, ' and lock me in there, threaten me, and say that things were going to get ugly for me, and there would be damage to my reputation", Newman said of Donald Trump.

"I can tell you it's absolutely 100 percent not true", he said, adding that he had to sign the same document when he left the White House last fall for a position with the vice president.

Omarosa Manigault Newman has released secret recordings of her conversations with Donald Trump and his chief of staff, John Kelly, which have made global headlines but have also left lingering questions.

"Very explosive this weekend when it was turned out, or when she revealed, that she had been taping recordings inside the Situation Room", Mullaney said Monday. Omarosa had Zero credibility with the Media (they didn't want interviews) when she worked in the White House. "Not only is this flat-out false (I've never heard such a thing), but Omarosa didn't even make an effort to call or email me to verify. She's not a friend; she's a liar, and I would say she's evil". "She was vicious, but not smart", he tweeted.

But the campaign official said the onetime Trump booster, now the president's sworn enemy, had already signed a almost identical one a year and a half earlier.

In an unusual admission, Trump acknowledged that the public sparring was perhaps beneath a person in his position, tweeting that he knew it was "not presidential" to take on "a lowlife like Omarosa". But then as the campaign started getting details about why she was let go - that's when it became clear - she wasn't going to come back on board'. Trump and Conway both chose to use the more legally loaded term of "non-disclosure agreement" when publicly chastising her for sharing scandalous gossip about her White House tenure. This is his pattern with African-Americans, and he doesn't know how to control himself. "I told him to try working it out, if possible, because she only said GREAT things about me - until she got fired!"

The recording, which is yet to be verified, reportedly depicts President Trump unaware that Ms Manigault Newman had been fired. Mr. Trump came to office vowing to hire "only the best people" - but has struggled to put a lid on leaks, incompetence, backbiting and scandal inside his White House.
