Tesla rocked by latest executive shakeup, Musk's behavior on webcast

Elon Musk sued for ‘trying to burn’ short-sellers with Tesla-go-private tweets

For a Factbox on executive departures, see: Even before Musk's surprise August 7 Twitter disclosure that he had funding "secured" for a go-private deal, Tesla had been under scrutiny from investors, analysts and short-sellers as it works to hit production targets and slow its cash burn.

Morton, a former CFO for computer-drive maker Seagate Technology, joined Tesla one day before Musk tweeted that he was considering buying out some investors at $420 a share and taking the company private. Rogan asked Musk, as he offered him the joint.

Tesla stock (NASDAQ:TSLA) is down 6% in Friday's intraday amid reports that the company lost two more executives, with Chief Accounting Officer David H. Morton, Jr. leaving his post after just two months and Chief People Officer Gabrielle Toledano confirming that she would not be coming back from a leave.

Even before Musk's surprise August 7 tweet that he had funding "secured" for a go-private deal, Tesla had been under scrutiny from investors, analysts and short-sellers as it works to hit production targets and slow its cash burn. The stock has plunged 31 percent since Musk floated the idea of taking the auto maker off the public market, lopping billions of dollars off the company's market value. Tesla said Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton resigned because of discomfort with the public attention and pace of work.

Overall, Morton appears to have parted ways with Tesla amicably, stating that he still believes in the company's overall mission, as well as its future prospects.

Tesla announced Toledano joined Tesla in May 2017 as chief people officer.

In the latest in a string of recent out-of-character behavior, founder of billion dollar company Tesla, Elon Musk smoked weed during a live taping of a podcast.

"I'm not a regular smoker of weed", Musk, 47, said on the podcast before taking a puff from a joint Rogan said contained tobacco and weed, which is legal in California where the two conducted the interview.

The bond had tumbled earlier this week as Musk renewed an attack on a British caver whom he had previously insulted on social media a day after Mercedes-Benz unveiled a challenge to the electric vehicle maker. "We think this is further evidence that the time is now for management and the Board to address these issues", Albertine said.

Coupled with an upfront cost of 21 percent of insured value, it now costs an investor around $280,000 to insure $1 million of Tesla debt for a year. A Tesla spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
