The new, enormous, expensive iPhone is confirmed and has a name

6 gadgets Apple may launch on September 12

Apple's flagship iPhone X may get a minor upgrade this year, but the company could expand its core design elements into a line of phones -- with names that sound like confusing clothing sizes. Apple will use the iPhone's launch to also introduce upgrades to its entire portfolio of popular consumer gadgets.

Firstly, we will soon find out what Apple has in store for its new devices within a matter of days and once these have been revealed older iPhones could drop in price even further. The first is the nomenclature.

We know for certain we're going to see new iPhones this Wednesday (Sept. 12), when Apple hosts a press event at its Cupertino, Calif., campus.

Apple said at the time AirPower was "coming in 2018". It'd also make for a new set of options in the peripherals universe - USB-C means more manufacturers can get in on the game without direct Apple Certified certification. It's rumored name, according to the publication, is the "iPhone Xr".

After 9to5Mac brought the name iPhone XS Max into play last week for the largest of the new models, the name iPhone XS Plus is again mentioned on the slide. Obviously, because Apple hasn't launched its 2018 lineup yet, the full details for the upcoming handsets are seemingly missing from those listings. Apple isn't too precise about the system requirements, but says "recent versions" of Chrome and Firefox are supported. Quartz, meanwhile, reported that the iPhone X tops out at $1,455.23 (Dh5,346) in Hungary.

In addition to Ming-Chi Kuo, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is also ready with his summary for Apple's upcoming 2018 iPhone event.

Instead of launching the Product (RED) edition iPhones half way through the product life cycle, Apple might be launching its red iPhone alongside all of the other models. This might imply that the Apple Watch Series 4 will only come in an LTE flavor. Shortly after Apple's big event on Wednesday, Microsoft is expected to introduce new Surface hardware on the 2nd of October, followed by new Pixel hardware from Google on the 9th of October.

The event may also include Apple Watch internet-connected wrist wear getting its first significant redesign since it debuted three years ago. Although the iPad can be used either in a vertical or horizontal orientation, Face ID will reportedly work on the device when held in portrait mode.
